“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”
A little bit about me..
I'm Lanie Wilton—a Gisborne-based artist, qualified teacher, and trained Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy (HICAT) practitioner.
For over 20 years, I’ve been painting and exhibiting artwork inspired by New Zealand’s natural beauty, emotional landscapes, and the healing power of creativity. My work spans beach scenes, word art, abstract mixed media, and more recently, art inspired by generational wisdom—from my grandmother and aunties to my young daughter.
Since settling in Gisborne, I’ve found deep inspiration in the rhythms of coastal life and the simplicity of homegrown living. You'll often find me painting on reclaimed wood, surfboard blanks, or canvas, surrounded by flowers, family, and the ocean’s calming energy.
Alongside my art practice, I now offer creative healing resources, art therapy workshops, and online sessions to help others express themselves and find inner calm through mindful creativity. My goal is to share the tools that have helped me feel more grounded, connected, and creatively free.
You can find me on Instagram @laniewilton.art and Facebook at Lanie’s Art to see my latest work, offerings, and daily inspiration.
